Support School Librarians! Oppose SB 154

Georgia Senate Bill 154 in the 2023-24 Legislative Session would threaten school librarians with significant fines and jail time of up to 12 months for distributing "obscene materials" to minors. It does this by removing the exception O.C.G.A. § 16-12-104 makes for public school libraries from the prohibitions described in O.C.G.A. § 16-12-103. What is O.C.G.A. § 16-12-103? It's the section of Georgia criminal law which includes punishments for distributing obscene materials to minors.

The Georgia Library Media Association has issued a statement expressing its opposition to SB 154.
